Here are some of the main events on and around the canal

Canal walk (Sun 27th Sept)

As part of doors open day - See the programme http://www.cockburnassociation.org.uk/doorsopenday under "Union Canal Walks". "The guided walk, which lasts for approximately 1.5 hours, will focus on the Canal’s contribution to the heritage of the area between Fountainbridge and Polwarth."

Edinburgh Canal Festival and 3rd Annual Raft Race (27th June 2009)

This event took place already and photographs can be seen on the edinburgh raft race website and the Union Canal group on Flickr.

The Canal Festival and Raft Race takes place on and around the Lochrin Basin from 10am, on the 27th June.

Details of the festival from the Festival and Raft Race website (www.edinburghraftrace.com) say…

"Edinburgh City Council and British Waterways have come on board to create the Edinburgh Canal Festival, a full day of nautical adventure with samba, salsa and water-walking to name a few. 32 teams will compete in this year's raft race, with masses of other activities happening from Edinburgh Quay to Harrison Park. Action will be at the Lochrin Basin (Edinburgh end of the Union Canal, near Cargo bar). Events kick off at 10am, races start at 11am, and we aim to award prizes around 5pm. Car parking will be available for only £2 (8am-6pm) underneath the Edinburgh Quay Building and £3 (8am-6pm) at the Scottish Widows Building. - See you there."
